You give us the music
Very, very early on in my personal story of reclaiming myself, and while I was beginning to remember the importance of Source in my own self and life, I received and fashioned the following song.
The central statement, “you give us the music, so help us play our parts” remains true for me now.
I want to play my part in the symphony, and I want to do what life asks of me, to embody and be the music, which is/would be my greatest happiness.
But I need ongoing help.
Recognition today out to the artist Michael Hall who was a colleague at Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland, and who was one of the very first people who helped me out by offering a shoestring recording session in his Oakland apartment over twenty years ago. Thank you forever, brother.
I want to place my trust in something bigger than me
I want to place my trust in an underlying sea
But I know I can’t behave. And I know I can’t be saved
Please try to be patient with me. Help me play my part
You give us the music, so help us play our parts
I’ve grown up so fast. Was hardly happy til now
Sometimes it’s hard to believe you are the source of my relief
I know I can’t behave. And I know I can’t be saved
Please try to be patient with me. Help me play my part
You give us the music, so help us play our parts
Oh, my my my
My Invitation to You:
This is a song about asking. What do you want? Be specific.
Create an art piece in any medium. A memorialization chiefly for yourself, to embody, crystallize, and preserve your intention, such as it is, just now.
You can give voice to anything you want, you seek, you need, and this will serve as a kind of resolution of the blurry image, a focusing of lenses in your telescope.
Let this help guide you home, wherever/whatever that is for you.
